Кэш – лидер собачьего ансамбля «Поющие бродяги», у которого были напряжённые отношения с Дикси. Они часто спорили, но настоящая ссора началась в тот день, когда Дикси отказалась выходить на сцену, и Кэш, недолго думая, взял вместо неё щенка по имени Коппер.
Услышав, что её заменили, Дикси обиделась ещё больше. Она объединилась с лисёнком Тодом, другом Коппера, который тоже не хотел, чтобы Коппер уехал с «Бродягами» и забыл о нём. Вместе они заманили на ярмарку Амоса Слейда, хозяина Коппера. Из-за этого начался бардак, и «Поющие бродяги» опозорились прямо на глазах у отборщика талантов.
Сразу после этого Кэш уволил Коппера, узнав, что он не бродячий. Коллеги Кэша были не согласны с его решением, и группа распалась, однако Тоду и Копперу удалось их помирить. «Поющих бродяг» собрали вместе у закусочной, где сидел отборщик талантов, и ансамблю наконец-то удалось выступить.
